First of all sorry for the lack of updates for a while – I’ve been sunning myself for a few weeks – blogging is just such a stressful career! :p

Anyway, for those who haven’t heard about this Heinz have decided to pull an advert for it’s deli mayo after receiving about 200 complaints from right-wing nutters religious people, for whom the sight of two men kissing is just too much.

Anyway, watch the ad (while it’s still available on youtube) then join almost 15,000 others by signing an online petition here: http://www.petitiononline.com/heinz/. Lets prove to Heinz that there’s a lot of gay-friendly, non ignorant, narrow-minded people out there who aren’t ‘shocked’ or ‘offended’ by a kiss between two people. Jesus, it’s 2008 – GET OVER IT!

update: Heinz have issued an ‘apology’ of sorts which only seems to exacerbate the situation by implying that a kiss between two men is humorous:

Heinz apologizes for its misplaced attempt at humour and we accept that this ad was not in accordance with our long-standing corporate policy of respecting everyone’s rights and values.

Since Heinz don’t seem too fussed about respecting the rights of gay people to be identified as ‘normal’ within the media, I would also urge you to send Heinz a nice little email telling them what you think of their ‘respectful’ policies!
