The Pet Shop Boys are Neil Tennant (vocals) and Chris Lowe (backing vocals & keyboard). The English duo known for their electronic dance music won a BRIT Award in 2009 for their ‘Outstanding Contribution to Music’.

Rumours about the sexuality of the due have abounded since the 80s, fanned by neither Tennant nor Lowe either confirming or denying that they were gay. Tennant finally confirmed his homosexuality in 1994, coming out in Attitude. Lowe has never labelled his sexuality saying that the terms ‘gay’ and ‘straight’ are too constrictive. The Pet Shop Boys duo are also (wrongly) assumed to be a couple.

The Pet Shop Boys are famous for their gay themed music, especially ‘It’s a Sin’ and their cover of the Village People’s ‘Go West’.

The Pet Shop Boys’ latest single entitled ‘Love Etc.’ was released this Monday (16th March). The album ‘Yes’ is due for release on 23rd March. Love Etc. is a really fantastic track. The video is also awesome – full of gay images – wonderful! I’ve heard they’re amazing live, I’ll have to get some tickets for the Pet Shop Boys’ next tour – donations wecome!
